We are committed to pursuing sustainable growth in tandem with society.
The Sumitomo Rubber Group is promoting a variety of measures aimed at helping resolve environmental and social issues through its business activities.
To embody our Purpose, “Through innovation we will create a future of joy and well-being for all,” we will strive to realize a sustainable society and, to this end, pursue the Sustainability Vision, which informs various measures now under way in line with the Long-Term Sustainability Policy: “Driving Our Future Challenge 2050.”
The Sumitomo Rubber Group has identified priority issues that must be addressed both by itself and by its stakeholders. Currently, we employ “GENKI” concepts, which constitute our unique framework defined under the Sustainability Vision when tackling these priority issues.
These concepts date back to 1988, when employee volunteers first launched community contribution projects to help realize a society in which everyone can thrive. Such activities continue into the present day.
The “GENKI” Sustainability Activity Guidelines originated from the CSR Guidelines we established in 2008. Since then, we have continuously upgraded these guidelines so that we can keep on helping energize society through our corporate activities.
As a company committed to promoting sustainability activities, we are engaged in strategic planning, ongoing monitoring, evaluation and reporting of our endeavors in the field of sustainability to achieve constant improvement. While doing so, we strive to communicate our initiatives aimed at helping realize a sustainable society to all our stakeholders.
In the field of sustainability, the Sumitomo Rubber Group has earned high ratings and been granted a number of awards, exemplified by those listed below, in recognition of its initiatives.
