Sumitomo Rubber Registers as “TNFD Adopter” to Contribute to Solving Issues Related to Preservation of Biodiversity:Announces as “Early Adopter” at Davos Conference

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has registered as a TNFD Adopter*2, which adopts the disclosure recommendations released by the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD*1) in September 2023. Thus, the company was announced as an “Early Adopter” at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, which is being held in Davos, Switzerland from January 15, 2024. Going forward, we will make disclosure in line with the TNFD recommendations and take an approach aimed for proper management of nature-related issues
Having recognized the Preservation of Biodiversity as one of the issues requiring countermeasures in the process of identifying priority issues, the Sumitomo Rubber Industries Group implements initiatives to achieve it.*3 In November 2023, we participated in the TNFD Forum and began the risk analysis of nature-related issues.
The Group places importance on doing business in a sustainable manner while living in harmony with society and the environment, and defines Our Reason for Being = Purpose as “Through innovation we will create a future of joy and well-being for all.” With the Purpose serving as the basis for all decisions we make and as the starting point of our actions, we will strive to enhance social value in addition to economic value, and thereby contribute to the development of sustainable society. We will continue to carry out activities for greening and the protection of endangered species and strive to protect biodiversity through business activities while collaborating with our stakeholders in the areas of biodiversity and nature as well.
