DUNLOP “ENASAVE EC350+” Selected as Factory Standard Tires for the Latest Toyota Prius

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have begun supplying our high-performance DUNLOP “ENASAVE EC350+” tires to Toyota Motor Corporation for use as factory standard tires on their latest model Prius, which went on sale this January.
In addition to the top-notch environmental friendliness that has always been synonymous with the Prius Brand, this latest model also features outstanding driving performance as well as a stylish new design. For the 25th Anniversary of Prius, Toyota Motor Corporation has gone back to the drawing board to rethink the past, present and future of Prius, a brand that has continually driven the growth and development of the HEV (Hybrid-Electric Vehicle) industry. Working under the concept of “Hybrid Reborn,” their efforts culminated in the creation of an all-new model fit to serve as a pioneer for the next generation of hybrid vehicles.
In order to meet the needs of the latest model Prius, our DUNLOP “ENASAVE EC350+” tires take full advantage of the many advanced technologies that we have developed and refined to date, adopting an innovative rubber compound that we developed specifically to achieve higher fuel efficiency. This compound also incorporates a new macromolecular polymer as well as a new grip-improving agent in order to provide all-around high performance when it comes to fuel efficiency, wear resistance and handling on wet roads. At the same time, we have also developed a new tread pattern to enhance overall performance on wet roads while also reducing the amount of noise that the tires emit. In addition, we have also reduced the overall tire weight in order to further contribute to the top-notch fuel efficiency performance that one would expect of the latest model Prius.
