Sumitomo Rubber Group Develops Long-term Corporate Strategy “R.I.S.E. 2035”

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce the development of the Long-term Corporate Strategy “R.I.S.E. 2035” that looks ahead to 2035.

By defining the vision behind R.I.S.E. 2035 as “Continuing to Provide ‘New Experiential Value’ Born from Rubber to Everyone,” we bring joy and value to customers in mobility, sports, healthcare, and daily life with the growth promotion drivers: “Further creation of innovation starting from rubber,” “Strengthening brand management,” and “Building a resilient management foundation.”


 
We have promoted structural reforms and built foundations for growth businesses on the basis of our mid-term plan that started in 2023. In January, we announced the acquisition of DUNLOP trademark and other rights for four-wheel tires in Europe, North America, and Oceania from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company . This allows us to expand our tire business globally under the DUNLOP brand except for certain regions and products. In addition, we are on track to achieve the management goals set in our mid-term plan ahead of schedule. In anticipation of future environmental changes, we have formulated a strategy to clearly define our long-term path by setting the year 2025 as the turning point.

In R.I.S.E. 2035, our vision is defined as “Continuing to Provide “New Experiential Value” Born from Rubber to Everyone” by taking advantage of the “Rubber and Analytical Technology,” which is the ability we have developed through many years of business activities to create premium products through a value creation process centered on rubber, and the “Brand Creation Capability,” which is the ability we have long used to launch and nurture multiple brands that bring joy to customers.

To realize the vision, we will implement strategies based on the three growth promotion drivers: Further creation of innovation starting from rubber, Strengthening brand management, and Building a resilient management foundation. By 2027, we will further strengthen DUNLOP by enhancing profitability through tire premiumization and prepare for growth businesses. By 2030, we will achieve new heights with an established brand by maximizing generated cash / establishing a solid position through challenges in growth businesses. And by 2035, we will achieve a sustainable business structure through continuous creation of innovative products and services by transforming the portfolio through the expansion of growth businesses. These efforts will lead us to achieve our vision for 2035 and realize Our Philosophy.


■ Financial targets
With the financial targets in the mid-term plan expected to be achieved ahead of schedule, we have decided to revise targets for FY2027 and aim for a business profit margin of 15%, ROE of 12%, and ROICE of 10% toward 2030–2035.
