Sumitomo Rubber Group Participates in “Asia Cross Country Rally 2024”, Supplying DUNLOP Tires to “TOYOTA GAZOO RACING THAILAND”

The Sumitomo Rubber Group is pleased to announce that we will participate in the Asia Cross Country Rally 2024, held in Thailand from August 11 through 17, in earnest by supplying DUNLOP tires to the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING THAILAND that competes in the rally.
The Asia Cross Country Rally, Asia’s largest cross-country rally certified by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), has been held in Thailand and surrounding countries in August every year since 1996. The route changes every year, and this year, the starting and finishing points are set in Thailand. Participants compete in the rally spanning a total of 2,100 km, under the road, natural, and climate conditions unique to Asia.
By teaming up with the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING THAILAND, we participate in this tough rally.
The TOYOTA GAZOO RACING THAILAND competes in this rally with three vehicles, which are all equipped with DUNLOP “GRANDTREK” tires. The equipped tires were developed from scratch for this rally. We enhanced the durability and traveling performance of the tires so that they can travel on extremely uneven surfaces of roads, such as asphalt roads in urban areas, dirt roads in mountain areas, and muddy roads in jungles, as well as respond to sudden changes in weather.
In “Thailand Rally-Raid Championship Round 2” held on May 18 and 19, which is a preliminary skirmish of the Asia Cross Country Rally, Mr. Natthaphon ANGRITTHANON, a driver of the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING THAILAND equipped with GRANDTREK tires, defeated a host of strong rivals to win the victory.
