Sumitomo Rubber’s Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Targets Acquire SBT Certification

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce SBT certification*1 granted by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)*2 for its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for 2030, which were deemed to be consistent with scientific evidence.
Our greenhouse gas emission reduction targets that were certified are as follows:
We have set targets for 2030*3 to achieve carbon neutrality throughout the supply chain, including SBT-certified targets. We are promoting the initiatives set forth in Driving Our Future Challenge 2050*4, our long-term sustainability policy, and TOWANOWA*5, our circular economy concept for the tire industry.
We are committed to working toward solutions to social and environmental issues throughout our business activities so that we may contribute to the development of a sustainable society.

*2 A joint initiative established by CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This initiative supports companies in setting targets consistent with scientific evidence (SBTs: science-based targets) and grants SBT certifications to companies that are found to conform with said targets.

Our greenhouse gas emission reduction targets that were certified are as follows:
