Sumitomo Rubber Supports the Osaka Round of “FIM E-XPLORER WORLD CUP,” the World’s First All-Electric, All-Terrain Motorcycle Racing Series

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that it supports the Osaka round of the FIM E-XPLORER WORLD CUP, the world’s first all-electric, all-terrain motorcycle racing series hosted by the Motorcycle Federation of Japan (MFJ)*1 and E-XPLORER S.A., as an official sponsor under the DUNLOP brand.
Having been first held in 2023, the FIM E-XPLORER WORLD CUP is a new off-road racing event with the theme of the achievement of innovative technology and sustainable diversity, in which only all-electric motorcycles compete and each team consists of two riders of both genders. The event came under the spotlight as the world’s top motorcycle manufacturer supported the theme and participated in the event. With the event having a larger number of motorcycle manufacturers as participants and drawing increased attention in 2024, Osaka was chosen as the location for the first round of the series, making the city the first location for the event in Asia. Leveraging the strength of electric motorcycles, namely, being quiet and clean, the FIM E-EXPLORER WORLD CUP is held in a variety of locations from an urban center such as Osaka to a place deep in the mountains with a wealth of nature in Switzerland.
In 2024, the event starts in Osaka, then will move to Norway, France, and Switzerland, which are environmentally conscious countries, and then to India, which is the world’s largest motorcycle market.
In sympathy with the E-XPLORER’s philosophy of collaborating with people around the world to create the future through technology, we support the Osaka round under the DUNLOP brand.
DUNLOP supports E-XPLORER’s attempt by providing the riders participating in E-XPLORER with the DUNLOP GEOMAX series, tires for off-road races with track records in the off-road motorcycle races: the Motocross World Championship, the AMA Supercross Championship, and the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
