DUNLOP “GRANDTREK AT23” and “GRANDTREK PT22” Selected as Factory Standard Tires for Toyota’s New Land Cruiser 250

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has begun supplying DUNLOP “GRANDTREK AT23” and “GRANDTREK PT22” tires for use as factory standard tires in Japan on the new Land Cruiser 250, which was launched this April.
Reborn under the keyword “back to the basics,” the new Land Cruiser 250 was developed with the concept of returning to its original role and mission, that is, to support users’ daily lives, by pursuing simplicity and sturdiness as the core model of the Land Cruiser lineup while adhering to the development idea of the Land Cruiser: reliability, durability, and drivability on rough terrain.
Our SUV tires, including the GRANDTREK series, have long been selected as factory standard tires for the Land Cruiser. We have continued to evolve them without compromise by making ceaseless efforts to enhance tire performance in order to consistently embody the essence of the Land Cruiser: “a vehicle that allows people to go anywhere and everywhere and return safely.”
The selected GRANDTREK AT23 and GRANDTREK PT22 have achieved the performance that allows the Land Cruiser 250 to deliver its high performance both on and off roads by adopting new tread rubber, which outperforms conventional ones in fuel economy and anti-wear performance, while maintaining their basic performance such as reliability and durability.
For the GRANDTREK PT22, we made full use of a simulation technology, which leverages our knowledge obtained through decades of development for the Land Cruiser, to predict and evaluate the optimal new tread pattern, thereby achieving a high level of quietness and striking a balance between fuel economy and driving performance at a high level.
