FALKEN EUROALL SEASON AS210 Released in Germany as First Tire to Feature CORESEAL Technology for the Prevention of Air Leaks
Jul. 21. 2021
Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that our European tire sales subsidiary (Falken Tyre Europe GmbH) has released to market the first tire to feature our proprietary CORESEAL*1 sealant tire technology, which prevents air leakage caused by damage to the tread of a tire. Our FALKEN EUROALL SEASON AS210 is now available in Germany.
CORESEAL technology involves applying a layer of sealant (a specialized material that features high adhesiveness and viscosity) to the inner lining of a tire tread. When a tire tread is perforated*2 completely through, the sealant fills in and blocks the hole, preventing air from leaking. Thus, this technology not only enhances overall safety by maintaining internal air pressure for continued safe driving even when a tire has been punctured, but also contributes to energy and resource savings by eliminating the need for spare tires.

The Sumitomo Rubber Group is actively engaged in the development and promotion of “spareless” technologies that eliminate the need for spare tires. In addition to CORESEAL, we have also already released various run-flat tires featuring our proprietary DUNLOP Self-Supporting Technology (DSST) and are now also advancing the development of GYROBLADE “airless tire” technology, which will eliminate the need for compressed air entirely. Because these technologies eliminate the need for spare tires, they not only contribute to resource savings, but also reduce vehicle loads for improved fuel efficiency.
Based on our SMART TYRE CONCEPT*3 for the development of tires and peripheral services to serve the needs of the Mobility Society of the Future, the Sumitomo Rubber Group will continue working to advance the development of products that provide both greater safety and greater environmental friendliness.
