 Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have begun supplying our high-performance DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX 050 DSST” tires to Toyota Motor Corporation for use as factory standard tires on their latest LS model, which went on sale last November.

Featuring our proprietary DSST* (DUNLOP Self-Supporting Technology), these tires not only ensure safe driving in the event of a flat tire, but also provide superior all-around driving performance. In addition, by eliminating the need for spare tires, these tires also free up vehicle storage space and reduce vehicle load weight, thereby contributing to a smaller environmental footprint in addition to greater overall safety.  

Designed to further refine the already impeccable driving experience that only LEXUS can provide, the new LS was developed in pursuit of the next evolution of quiet drive performance and superior riding comfort, which together make up the DNA of the LEXUS Brand.

Designed to suit the needs of the new LS, our DUNLOP “SP SPORT MAXX 050 DSST” takes full advantage of the techniques that we have cultivated over the course of many prior joint development projects with LEXUS in order to contribute to the quiet drive performance and superior riding comfort that one would expect of the LS. For these tires, we have revised the tire profile in order to reduce both air resistance and rolling resistance and have optimized the thickness of the tire sidewall in order to reduce overall tire weight. As a result, we have succeeded in greatly enhancing riding comfort while maintaining outstanding tire durability.
