Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. has entered into a Basic Business Alliance Agreement with TripodWorks CO., LTD and SYSGRATION LTD. With this agreement, we will establish global service for tire pressure control solutions using Direct TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) and other systems along with various tire data from other digital tools to meet the various needs of customers. This alliance is part of the milestone goal of expanding our range of solutions services as part of our tire technology development concept, “SMART TYRE CONCEPT.”

<Future Plans>
We will begin introducing tire pressure control solutions services that use tire pressure and temperature data from Direct TPMS before gradually expanding our tire control solutions model by adding new functions and/or other 3rd party services.

<Background>
Due to the development of MaaS (Mobility as a Service), vehicle users have been shifting from owning vehicles to sharing vehicles (i.e. Car Sharing and Ride Sharing). In addition, given the recent trend of technological advancement in terms of autonomous vehicles, we anticipate that tire and vehicle control services, such as autonomous tire services and predictive maintenance services, will become increasingly important. This is the reason why we are seeking establish and provide new services to customers: to respond to these environmental changes in the automotive industry.
